Grant Application and Review and Project Assessment - 2010

Please read the following carefully, as grant application procedures have changed significantly for both the Arts Program and the Environment Program for 2010.

While Beneficia accepts pre-proposal submissions from any interested party who meets the foundation's criteria, only invited proposals for projects focusing on conservation of the environment or the arts will be considered. Beneficia focuses its Arts giving in the Delaware Valley and its Environment giving on International Biodiversity Hot Spots. We favor requests for project support over general operating support and do not look favorably upon requests for construction of facilities. Minimum grant request: $10,000. In most instances, grants are limited to a cap of $50,000.

The Board meets once a year. The deadline for submission of pre-proposals for both programs is January 22nd, 2010.

·        Pre-proposals must be submitted electronically. Pre-proposal forms can be acquired from Mick Richardson at mickrichardson@sbcglobal.net . Mick Richardson will have limited access to e-mail between December 17 and January 1.

·        By Late February 2010, successful pre-proposal applicants to either the Environment Program or the Arts Program will be invited to submit a Full Proposal. You will also be notified if your pre-proposal was not selected.

·        Full Proposals, if invited, are due by March 11th 2010.

Committee chairs select proposals for preliminary review at committee meetings in April. The full Board of Directors meets in May to conduct final proposal reviews and make recommendations for funding. Applicants whose proposals are approved for funding will be notified by June 15. Beneficia will also notify applicants whose proposals have not been selected for funding.

At the end of the grant year (December 31), a narrative project assessment and financial reports are required.  For previously funded grantees, a project assessment and financial report are required before a new pre-proposal will be considered.

Guidelines on project assessment and financial reports are as follows:

  • A 3-4 page narrative report should discuss project progress to-date on grant funded activities as well as the specific items that were funded with the Beneficia grant.
  • Newspaper articles, magazine articles, brochures, and/or published scientific articles relating to the funded activities may also be submitted.
  • An updated financial report should be submitted.  This financial report should reflect the latest available quarterly financial report prepared for the Board of Trustees of the grantee organization.
